My Grandma loves cardinals–“red birds,” she calls them. She has red birds on half of what she owns, from towels to trivets, from sun catchers to Christmas ornaments. She also has lots of red bird outfits, so the sweater in this photo looks awfully familiar to me.
The cardinal is the state bird of Indiana, where my Grandma and I are from, as well as several other states (and ball teams, colleges, and much more). So not a bad choice.
