Remember Harambe? The Western lowland gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo who was shot dead in 2016 after he held a three-year-old boy that had climbed into his enclosure? Oh yeah, that Western lowland gorilla, you say.
After it emerged that Harambe may have been simply engaging in normal behavior for his species, his shooting caused international uproar and criticism of zoos, as well as focus on other animal accidents. While pundits and professionals debated the nuances of the incident, the internet exploded with tributes and jokes, many of them squarely tongue in cheek.
And then came the ugly Christmas sweaters.
We got the above colorful number from Shweeet, which also offers the pattern in a hoodie and in some pretty rockin’ pants. Note the banana and ape details in the sweater motifs.
