One of the great things about ugly Christmas sweaters is the chance to express your own creativity. There are thousands of vintage festive sweaters just waiting to be discovered in thrift shops or online, and great new designs appear every year.

But we also love it when folks get out their glue guns and craft their own stunning creations the old-fashioned way, by hand, just like Grandma used to do.

Big thanks to Vadrien Washington of South Carolina, who shared her beautiful holiday creation with us (above). Her sweater comes to life with snowflakes, poinsettias, and puff balls, accented with a snowman headband. Nice!

It’s not hard to see why she took first place in her local ugly sweater contest. (Get more homemade ugly Christmas sweater ideas here or here.)
